EMBRACING EARTH'S ANIMALS

Our task must be to free ourselves ….by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature and its beauty.
Albert Einstein.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.
Gandhi

Animals are our companions, confidants, allies and guides. It is our duty not to harm the humble co-inhabitants and to be of service to them whenever it is required. All living creatures are part of our interwoven universe, beloved by the same God and Goddess that created humankind. We must always show compassion towards them as compassion for animals is ultimately connected with goodness of character. Those who cannot show empathy and respect for all the creatures on this planet cannot show empathy and respect for their fellow man. Until we stop harming all living things, we are barbarians. So long as we continue to kill animals, we will continue to kill each other and there will be no peace.

Recognizing the importance of extending interfaith services to address the needs of all creatures, this ministry provides blessings, rituals and ceremonies for the animals of our Earth. Funeral services and memorials to honour the transition of a beloved domestic or wild animal are available at burial or cremation sites. The blessing of litters, naming ceremonies and prayers for animals that have gone missing or for those who are suffering can also be provided.

This ministry also encourages the sheltering and adoption of homeless or abused animals and supports the major organizations that are dedicated to their welfare. It is adamantly opposed to any form of animal experimentation for any reason and the killing of wild animals for sport or profit. This ministry promotes vegetarianism.
